Abitibi-Price, one of the world's largest ground wood pulp manufacturers, sought a solution to reduce the significant electricity costs associated with operating its facilities. With electricity representing one of the company’s largest operating expenses, the engineering team evaluated Lucid Load power conditioning technology through extensive testing.
Following an initial trial that demonstrated reductions in both energy consumption and peak demand, the company expanded testing over a 14-month period. Utility data compared with the previous three years showed an estimated 10% reduction in utility costs while improving power factor from below 0.90 to 0.99. Additional testing at another facility also demonstrated measurable reductions in kW, kVA, and kVAR while improving overall power factor.
